The blend combines 70% premium coco coir with 30% perlite, creating a lighter and more free-draining growing medium than straight coco. The added perlite helps increase aeration, reduce compaction and allow excess nutrient solution to drain more readily from the root zone.

Why use a 70/30 coco and perlite mix?

Using Ecothrive Coco Lite
Pour the Coco Lite into your chosen pot or container, loosen any compressed areas and gently settle the medium by tapping the sides and base of the pot. Avoid heavily compacting the coco as maintaining air space is one of the main advantages of the 70/30 blend.
Ecothrive recommends using a coco-specific nutrient formulation when growing in Coco Lite. A suitable option is CANNA Coco A+B.
Hand watering or automatic irrigation?
Ecothrive Coco Lite can be used with either method. The increased perlite content means it drains faster than a pure coco mix, so irrigation frequency should be matched to plant size, pot size, environmental conditions and how quickly the root zone is using moisture.

Choose Ecothrive Coco Lite 70/30 if you want more drainage and air space in the root zone. If your priority is maximum water retention or less frequent hand watering, a 100% coco medium may be more appropriate.
