Ecothrive Charge is a premium insect frass soil conditioner and biostimulant designed to add organic nutrition and biological material to soil, coco and other soilless growing media.
Made from mealworm frass, Charge provides a balanced background supply of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium alongside naturally occurring insect-derived material. It can be mixed into growing media before planting or applied later as a top dress.
Key features
- Premium mealworm frass: a naturally produced organic soil amendment.
- NPK 3.5-2.5-2: provides balanced background nutrition.
- Supports biological growing media: useful in soil, living soil and coco mixes.
- Contains naturally occurring chitin: insect-derived chitinous material forms part of the product.
- Mix in or top dress: use when preparing growing media or apply to established plants as required.
- Suitable for soil and coco: can be incorporated into potting soils, coco coir and other soilless substrates.
What is Ecothrive Charge?
Charge is made from insect frass produced by mealworm larvae. Unlike a conventional bottled nutrient, it is added to the growing medium rather than used as the primary feed in an irrigation tank.
Using Ecothrive Charge with coco
- Cuttings, seedlings or lower-fertility mixes: mix 2 to 3g per litre of coco.
- Established plants or higher-fertility mixes: mix 4 to 6g per litre of coco.
Mix Charge thoroughly through the coco before planting rather than concentrating it in one area of the pot.
Using Ecothrive Charge with potting soil
- Cuttings, seedlings or lower-fertility soil: mix 1 to 2g per litre.
- Established plants or higher-fertility applications: mix 3 to 4g per litre.
How to top dress with Ecothrive Charge
- 15 to 20 litre pots: apply approximately 3 to 6g.
- 50 to 60 litre pots: apply approximately 9 to 18g.
- Living soil beds: apply approximately 50 to 100g per square metre of soil surface.
Spread evenly across the surface, lightly scratch into the top 2 to 4cm and water after application. Repeat approximately every 2 to 4 weeks when required.
Charge in coco vs living soil
In coco, Charge adds an organic biological component to an otherwise relatively inert substrate while the main nutrition can still come from a coco nutrient programme. In living soil, it contributes to the nutritional and biological environment of the growing medium.
Ecothrive Charge and Coco Lite
Charge is already incorporated into Ecothrive Coco Lite 70/30. Standalone Charge remains useful for preparing your own mixes or later top-dressing applications.
The NPK Gardening Solutions take
Charge is not a conventional base nutrient. Its value is in adding insect frass and organic nutrition directly to the root zone. Use lower rates for seedlings and young plants and stronger rates for established plants or larger containers.
Choose Ecothrive Charge if you want a straightforward insect frass amendment that can be mixed into soil or coco or applied later as a measured top dress.
